PLATFORMS: An Activation Series
In partnership with the National Gallery of Canada, I helped develop "Platforms," a program that complements Rashid Johnson's installation "Capsule" at the gallery's main entrance. This work brings together a variety of materials in a steel-cube sculpture, encouraging viewers to reflect on their interconnections. "Platforms" aims to extend the conversation sparked by "Capsule," focusing on themes such as the innovation of Black music, the role of urban spaces in social justice, and the relationship between ecology and club culture.
This initiative reflects my interest in how art, music, and urban life intersect and how they can be used to engage communities in meaningful ways. Through panels and performances, "Platforms" invites the public to explore these themes, fostering a space for dialogue and shared experiences. My involvement in this project is part of a broader commitment to making art accessible and relevant, demonstrating the potential of cultural programming to enrich urban communities and stimulate discussion on important social issues. This initiative aligns with my passion for the intersection of art, music, and urban life, utilizing them as tools for community engagement. Through "Platforms," we open up a space for dialogue and shared experiences, inviting the public to delve into these themes. My role in this project underscores a broader dedication to ensuring art remains accessible and resonant, showcasing how cultural programming can significantly enrich urban communities and spark conversations on pressing social issues.
